How The Mighty Have Fallen
Despite their generic band name, Master’s Ashes found their way into my rotation and was consistently impressing me. The riffs are there in spades. The vocals are varied and intense. The music, in general, is a perfect balance of intensity, melodicism, and catchiness. Nothing here is really reinventing the wheel but they are just nailing exactly what they are trying to do. Further research showed me that Master’s Ashes features members of Crisis, Voivod, Dystopia, and Crowbar - that’s where it all started to make sense, this isn’t a new band of unknown musicians, it is the sum of members who have spent decades perfecting their craft in some of the most respected bands of their genres.
